Land Acknowledgment and Reparative Action Statement
Green New Deal Housing (GNDH) — a non-profit housing organization based in Duluth (Onigamiising), Minnesota, a land that was ceded by the Ojibwe in an 1854 treaty—honors the Anishinabewaki people living among us today and their ancestors whose land was stolen from them and colonized.
GNDH also acknowledges the historic, enduring and current contributions and sacrifices of communities enslaved, displaced, compromised, oppressed and traumatized by colonization.
We recognize these statements alone are not enough. Thus, GNDH will support and advocate for sovereignty of Native Nations in this territory, engage in anti-racist action and activity, and will strive to eliminate barriers to home-ownership, while advocating for health, wellness, environmental, economic and social justice for all.
